Philips Evnia highlights QD-OLED and Dual Mode monitors for console players

Philips Evnia has outlined monitor options for players using consoles and PCs on the same screen. The range includes QHD QD-OLED, switching between 4K and Full HD modes, and USB-C connectivity on selected models.

QD-OLED: console and PC specifications differ

The 26.5-inch Philips Evnia 27M2N6501L uses a QHD QD-OLED panel. Philips highlights QHD at 120 Hz with compatible consoles and 240 Hz on PC. Those figures describe different use cases: a monitor’s highest PC refresh rate does not mean a console can deliver the same output.

QD-OLED is one of the range’s distinguishing display options. For a console connection, supported resolution, game mode and the source device’s output capabilities need to be considered together. The maximum refresh rate on the packaging does not establish identical performance in every game.

Dual Mode provides two operating choices

The 27M2N5901A and 27M2N3800A feature Dual Mode. Philips lists 4K at 160 Hz or Full HD at 320 Hz, while compatible consoles are described as supporting 4K at 120 Hz. Users can therefore choose between higher resolution and a higher PC refresh rate.

Dual Mode does not change a console’s hardware limits. It describes operating options allowing the monitor to accommodate different sources. The game’s own image-quality and performance modes also affect the result.

Connectivity and ambient lighting

The 27M2N5901A includes USB-C with 65 W power delivery and KVM functionality. In a compatible setup, KVM can simplify sharing peripherals between computers. Power delivery also needs to be assessed against the connected laptop’s requirements.

AI-assisted Ambiglow is offered on the 27M2N6501L and 27M2N5901A. It is intended to adapt rear lighting to the colours and brightness of the image. The range illustrates why similar model names should not be taken to mean identical panels, connectivity or lighting features.
