NVIDIA opens a new Minecraft Java RTX beta with RTX Remix 1.6
NVIDIA’s update highlights a path-traced, DLSS-enabled beta for Minecraft Java 1.21.1 through RTX Remix 1.6. Phantom Blade Zero also features in the announcement following its 29 October release.
A new lighting approach for Minecraft Java

The Minecraft project in the RTX Remix 1.6 announcement is presented as a beta for Java Edition 1.21.1. That version detail matters: different Minecraft editions, mods and existing RTX content should not be assumed to work with the same setup. Users need to check the compatible game version and the requirements of the relevant packages.
Path tracing calculates how light interacts with surfaces more extensively, changing reflections and shadows. NVIDIA pairs this experience with DLSS technologies. Performance depends on the graphics card, resolution, quality settings and content used.
A sample world and material pack
The announcement includes a sample world by Blockworks and the Lightspeed PBR pack. Physically based materials help define how surfaces interact with light. The update is consequently more than a filter that makes the existing image brighter: materials and lighting work together.
RTX Remix gives developers and creators a working environment for changing game visuals. The beta designation indicates continuing development of compatibility and visual results. Images or frame rates produced on one machine do not establish identical results across every system.
Phantom Blade Zero and development tools

NVIDIA also highlights path tracing, DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction and dynamic Multi Frame Generation for Phantom Blade Zero. The announcement gives its Turkish release time as 05:00 on 29 October, so this is a completed release rather than a forthcoming launch as of 2 November.
The wider update covers additional RTX and AI development tools. For players, a feature being announced is distinct from its availability in a particular game version on their hardware. Driver, game-update and supported-GPU requirements need to be considered together when enabling the relevant RTX options.
