Aqara Shutter Switch H2 EU adds Matter and Zigbee shutter control

Aqara’s Shutter Switch H2 EU combines Thread and Zigbee support with percentage-based positioning, calibration and smart-home automation for motorised shutters.

Bringing motorised shutters into the smart home

Aqara has announced Shutter Switch H2 EU for motorised roller shutters and blinds. Beyond basic opening and closing, the device offers position control, calibration and integration with smart-home automation. It is intended both to upgrade existing motorised systems and to work with newer Matter-based installations.

The product supports Thread and Zigbee. It operates with Matter over Thread by default and can be switched to Zigbee mode through the Aqara Home app. Aqara says this gives users a choice between compatible Matter platforms and its Zigbee ecosystem without requiring them to replace their wider smart-home setup.

Percentage positioning and adjustable travel limits

Shutter Switch H2 EU can set shutters to a requested opening percentage rather than only fully open or fully closed. Its calibration system detects movement limits, while custom calibration lets users redefine the upper and lower endpoints for their particular installation.

Aqara describes applications including managing daylight and privacy or adjusting shading to suit a room. Custom limits can also be useful where plants, decorative objects or other obstacles are close to a window. These are proposed use cases; actual results depend on the shutter system and its installation.

Schedules, sensors and wireless controls

The switch can participate in automation such as opening shutters at sunrise, closing them at sunset or moving them in response to sensor readings. Its wireless control buttons can also trigger other compatible smart devices and scenarios, including lighting or other configured routines.

The company’s emphasis is on making shading part of the wider home environment rather than treating the switch as a standalone remote control. The protocols and platform integration provide alternative routes for including it in an existing smart-home arrangement.

European fittings and local operation

The EU model supports 55 mm frames, including Aqara frames and compatible third-party systems. Aqara says its 30 mm base depth is designed for European square and round wall boxes. Compatibility with a particular motor, frame and electrical installation still needs to be checked for that setup.

Basic local control remains available if the network connection is lost, allowing the device to function as a conventional shutter switch. The announcement also describes protection against overheating and prolonged operation, including motor protection features. In Türkiye, Shutter Switch H2 EU is being offered through authorised sales channels with Bilkom distribution support. The announcement does not specify a retail price.
