HONOR brought its latest innovations in cinematic mobile imaging to the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. As the Official Imaging Strategic Partner of the International Promotion Program for Chinese Films, HONOR showcased its new flagship HONOR Magic9 Pro Max alongside the world’s first Robot Phone.
Developed in collaboration with ARRI, the HONOR Magic9 Pro Max made its first appearance at the Venice Film Festival. The device stands out with its moss-green rear panel, a camera module featuring the ARRI logo, and a lens arrangement that reflects the design language of one of ARRI’s most iconic cinema cameras. The collaboration between HONOR and ARRI aims to bring professional cinema technologies to mobile devices, making cinematic video production more accessible to a broader audience.
Making Professional Production More Accessible
Key elements of ARRI’s renowned Image Science and professional cinema workflows have been adapted for use in a smartphone. This provides content creators with greater flexibility during production while preserving creative control throughout the post-production process. The partnership aims to bring selected elements of professional filmmaking workflows to a pocket-sized device, making cinematic content creation more accessible without compromising creative freedom.
From Shooting to Post-Production
For content creators, ARRI LogC3 preserves more information in highlights and shadows for post-production, while ARRI Wide Gamut 3 provides a wider color space and ARRI Looks offers controlled cinematic color styles.
Through this collaboration, the HONOR Robot Phone brings ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3, and ARRI Looks together in a single device, supporting an integrated workflow that extends from mobile shooting to post-production.
More Than a Century of History and Dozens of Awards
From the earliest days of cinema to today’s most advanced digital camera systems, ARRI has helped shape the language of filmmaking for more than a century. The company’s contributions to the industry have been recognized with 20 Scientific and Technical Awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
David Bermbach, Director of Product at ARRI, said:
“The future is not just about more pixels. The future is about control. It is about enabling creators to capture beautiful images. HONOR brings expertise in mobile imaging, powerful processing capabilities, and robotics. ARRI contributes more than a century of trusted leadership in image science and professional production workflows. We come from different industries, but we share a common goal: expanding the boundaries of what creators can achieve with the tools they carry with them every day.”
Bringing together HONOR’s advanced mobile imaging capabilities and ARRI’s century-long legacy in cinematic image science, the collaboration reflects a shared ambition to unlock new creative possibilities and make selected elements of professional filmmaking workflows accessible to the next generation of content creators.
As the partnership progresses, HONOR and ARRI will continue refining and developing their integrated imaging technologies and workflows, drawing on insights from technical validation and real-world filmmaking applications.
Advancing Cinematic Capabilities with the HONOR Magic9 Series
HONOR is also bringing its cinematic imaging capabilities to a broader range of consumer devices.
