IGIS 2026 to Bring Global Investors, Technology Developers, and Financial Institutions Together in Cappadocia on November 26–27
The International Geothermal Investment Summit (IGIS), which connects Türkiye’s geothermal sector with international stakeholders, is preparing to return to Cappadocia for its second edition on November 26–27, 2026. Led by the Geothermal Investors Association (JEMYAD), the summit will address a broad agenda spanning energy security, next-generation closed-loop technologies, investment and financing models, and high-value applications of geothermal energy beyond power generation.
Vice President of Türkiye Cevdet Yılmaz is also expected to attend this year’s summit. The opening session is anticipated to feature prominent figures, including Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Nevzat Şatıroğlu, President of Climate Change Prof. Dr. Halil Hasar, Nevşehir Governor Hüseyin Kök, and JEMYAD President Ömer Tosun.
Next-Generation Technologies Take Center Stage
Closed-loop systems, enhanced geothermal systems (EGS), and deep hot rock technologies will feature prominently on the summit’s technology agenda.
The session titled “The Geothermal Landscape Is Being Reshaped — Closed-Loop Technologies, Deep Hot Rocks, and the New Competitive Balance” aims to assess the impact of emerging technologies on global markets and evaluate Türkiye’s position in this transformation.
Moderated by Luca Xodo, President of ETIP-Geothermal, the panel is set to include Robert Winsloe, Executive Vice President of Eavor Technologies, and Kim Gunn Maver, Co-Founder and Chief Geologist of Green Therma, among other participants.
Financing the Next Generation of Geothermal Investments
Financing next-generation geothermal investments will form another key pillar of the program. The session, designed to be moderated by JEMYAD President Ömer Tosun, will explore technology, exploration, and drilling risk-sharing; financing for first-of-a-kind commercial-scale projects; insurance mechanisms; guarantee funds; and blended finance models.
Representatives from major financial institutions are expected to bring diverse perspectives to the discussion, including Yasemin Örücü from the World Bank Group, Mehmet Üvez from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Seçil Yıldız from the Development and Investment Bank of Türkiye, and Keiju Mitsuhashi from the Asian Development Bank.
Exploring Geothermal Energy Beyond Power Generation
IGIS 2026 will also take a broader view of geothermal energy, looking beyond electricity generation to explore its wider economic potential.
Key topics include lithium and critical mineral recovery, the utilization of geothermal-derived CO₂, greenhouse agriculture, district heating, and agricultural drying.
The health and tourism dimensions of geothermal energy will be addressed in a dedicated thermal health and wellness session moderated by Ayla Heyfegil, Managing Partner of Servotel. International figures including Anne Biging, Yasemen Kaner-White, and Rachel Branson are expected to share their perspectives on the sector’s transformation and Türkiye’s potential.
“We Are Exploring Geothermal Energy Across a Broader Economic Value Chain”
Ömer Tosun, President of JEMYAD, described the vision behind IGIS 2026:
“With IGIS, we are exploring the future of geothermal energy not only through power generation, but also within a broader economic value chain spanning technology, finance, critical minerals, agriculture, heating, and health and wellness tourism.
“At IGIS 2026, we aim to bring investors, technology developers, financial institutions, and public-sector representatives together at the same table, opening up an international discussion on Türkiye’s potential in this new era.”
IGIS 2026 Program and Venues
